Poland has an area of 127,886sq km (49,325sq
miles). Its capital is Warsaw. Its towns
include Lódz, Kraków, Wroclaw, Poznan,
Katowice, Bydgoszcz, and Lublin. Its ports
include Gdansk, Szczecin, and Gdynia. Half
the country's lakes have been seriously
contaminated and three-quarters of its
drinking water does not meet official health
standards.
